And yeah I wish the Amis collection had a bit less fluff (there's a lot of short pieces of him reviewing Hilary Clinton and stuff like that, not very interesting), but when it's good it's some of the best critical writing I've ever read. I like critics who anatomize the work with minute accuracy but my favorites are the ones that are just pure joy and fun.
